It Starts With A Blank Page
What is a blank page to you?
A blank page to me has infinite possibilities as it is inevitably where I always start from when writing a blogpost.
One idea has unlimited potential given the fact that we are seeing more and more evidence that if something can be imagined then it is often just a matter of time before it becomes a reality. Consider manned flight, parachutes, submarines and helicopters, all dreamt up hundreds of years ago by Leonardo Da Vinci. In modern times Douglas Adams wrote about the “Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy”, essentially what the world wide web now gives all of us on our mobile phones.
Many of us have flashes of inspiration and the odd eureka moment, only to forget the details once we have woken (or sobered) up, especially if we don’t sleep with a pad and pen by the bed. The profoundly sad thing is that whilst we all might wonder whether these thoughts were truly inspired and might have changed our lives somehow, even if they were just illusions most of us overlook every day the fact that we already have our biggest assets – passion and experience.
It should come as no surprise that many of the most successful people have an abundance of both, because it is simply common sense that if you combine the two then you have a powerful advantage over someone who has one but not the other. The great thing is that each of us has unique experience and different passions, so if we can find a combination that works for us and gets us excited then all we need is to understand how to turn this into profit by passing this experience on and helping others in the process, which just happens to be our passion and experience!
Start with a blank page and write down one idea at a time until you find the one with the right combination that gets the appropriate gut reaction. If you don’t feel it, wait until the next idea comes along.
